Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing. The journal recognizes authorship as an acknowledgment of significant intellectual contributions to research and scholarly work. To ensure fair and responsible authorship practices, the journal adopts authorship principles recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

All individuals listed as authors must have made meaningful intellectual contributions to the research and must accept responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the published work.

Authorship Requirements

To qualify for authorship in An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan, each contributor must meet all four of the following criteria:

1. Substantial Intellectual Contribution

Authors must contribute substantially to the conception or design of the research, the collection of data, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings. These contributions must represent meaningful intellectual involvement in the scholarly work.

2. Manuscript Preparation and Critical Review

Authors must participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it to improve its intellectual content, academic quality, and scholarly relevance. Contributors must help develop or critically evaluate the arguments, analysis, and interpretation presented in the manuscript.

3. Final Approval

All authors must review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication. Each author must ensure that the manuscript accurately represents the research process, findings, and conclusions.

4. Accountability and Research Integrity

All authors must accept responsibility for their contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy, validity, originality, or integrity of the research. Authors must ensure that any concerns about the work receive appropriate investigation and resolution.

All contributors who meet these four criteria must be listed as authors. Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet every authorship requirement should receive appropriate acknowledgment rather than authorship.

Financial support, general supervision, administrative assistance, technical editing, or proofreading alone does not qualify an individual for authorship.

Author Responsibilities and Contributions

All authors must agree on the order of authorship before submitting the manuscript. They must also disclose their respective contributions accurately and ensure that the authorship list reflects the actual intellectual contributions of each individual.

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact with the editorial team. This author coordinates manuscript submission, manages editorial correspondence, communicates reviewers' comments to co-authors, coordinates revisions, and ensures that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must include a clear justification and written consent from all affected authors. The editorial team will evaluate the request and determine whether the proposed change complies with the journal's authorship policy and publication ethics standards.

Unethical Authorship Practices

An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan does not permit unethical authorship practices, including the following:

Guest Authorship: Listing an individual as an author despite their failure to meet the journal's authorship criteria, often because of their academic position, reputation, or institutional status.

Gift Authorship: Including an individual as an author in exchange for personal, professional, or institutional benefits without a qualifying intellectual contribution.

Ghost Authorship: Excluding an individual who has made substantial contributions to the research or manuscript from the authorship list without appropriate acknowledgment or disclosure.

The journal may investigate suspected authorship violations or disputes in accordance with recognized publication ethics principles and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Depending on the findings, the editorial team may request clarification, supporting documentation, or written statements from the individuals involved before making a decision.

Commitment to Responsible Authorship

Through this policy, An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan seeks to ensure fair recognition of scholarly contributions, promote responsible research collaboration, and maintain transparency throughout the publication process.

All authors are expected to uphold academic integrity, respect the contributions of collaborators, and comply with the journal's authorship requirements. The editorial team reserves the right to address authorship concerns in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and applicable scholarly publishing standards.
