An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan

An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan, published by Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Tarbiyah Syekh Muhammad Nafis Tabalong, is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, academic integrity, and ethical standards throughout the scholarly publication process. The journal recognizes that conflicts of interest may arise among individuals involved in research, manuscript evaluation, editorial decision-making, and publication activities.

To ensure the credibility and independence of scholarly publications, all authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members are expected to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may influence their professional judgment or responsibilities. This policy is developed in accordance with the ethical principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

  1. Definition and Scope of Conflicts of Interest

A conflict of interest occurs when financial, personal, professional, institutional, or other competing interests could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, an individual's objectivity, independence, or professional judgment in the research and publication process.

Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial interests: Research funding, sponsorship, consultancy arrangements, employment relationships, honoraria, or other financial benefits related to the research.
  • Personal interests: Family relationships, close friendships, personal disagreements, or other relationships that could affect impartial judgment.
  • Professional and academic interests: Academic competition, research collaborations, supervisory relationships, or professional commitments that may influence manuscript evaluation.
  • Institutional interests: Institutional affiliations, organizational responsibilities, or institutional policies that may create competing interests.
  • Intellectual interests: Strong academic commitments, theoretical positions, or ideological perspectives that could interfere with the objective evaluation of scholarly work.

The existence of a conflict of interest does not necessarily constitute unethical conduct. However, failure to disclose relevant competing interests may undermine the transparency, credibility, and integrity of the publication process.

  1. Responsibilities of Authors

All authors submitting manuscripts to An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan are required to disclose any financial or non-financial interests that could influence the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, or reporting of their research.

Authors must provide accurate and complete information regarding potential conflicts of interest during the manuscript submission process. Such disclosures may include research funding, institutional affiliations, sponsorship arrangements, professional relationships, or other competing interests relevant to the submitted manuscript.

If no conflicts of interest exist, authors must include the following declaration:

"The authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest regarding the research, authorship, and publication of this article."

When conflicts of interest exist, authors must clearly describe their nature and explain any potential influence on the research or publication process.

Authors are also responsible for promptly informing the editorial office if new conflicts of interest arise or become apparent during manuscript review, revision, or publication.

  1. Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

Peer reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the academic quality, credibility, and integrity of articles published in An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan.

Reviewers are required to evaluate submitted manuscripts independently, objectively, fairly, and confidentially. Before accepting a review invitation, reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could compromise their impartiality.

Potential conflicts may arise from personal relationships with authors, recent research collaborations, direct academic competition, institutional affiliations, financial interests, or other circumstances affecting independent evaluation.

Reviewers who identify significant conflicts of interest must immediately notify the editorial team and decline or withdraw from the review assignment if their objectivity cannot be maintained.

Furthermore, reviewers must not use unpublished manuscripts, research findings, or confidential information obtained through the peer-review process for personal, academic, professional, or financial advantage.

  1. Responsibilities of Editors and Editorial Board Members

Editors and editorial board members of An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan are responsible for ensuring that editorial decisions are based on the academic merit, originality, methodological quality, relevance, and scholarly contribution of submitted manuscripts.

Editorial decisions must remain independent of financial interests, institutional pressures, personal relationships, academic competition, or other external influences.

Editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest associated with manuscripts assigned to them. When a significant conflict exists, the editor concerned must withdraw from the evaluation and decision-making process, and the manuscript must be assigned to another qualified editor who has no relevant conflict of interest.

Manuscripts submitted by editors, editorial board members, or individuals who have close professional or personal relationships with the editorial team must undergo an independent and impartial peer-review process.

The publisher must respect editorial independence and must not improperly influence manuscript acceptance or rejection decisions for institutional, financial, personal, or other non-academic reasons.

  1. Disclosure and Management of Conflicts of Interest

An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan requires all relevant conflicts of interest to be disclosed at the appropriate stages of manuscript submission, peer review, editorial evaluation, and publication.

The editorial team is responsible for evaluating disclosed conflicts and determining appropriate measures to prevent bias and maintain publication integrity.

Depending on the nature and significance of the conflict, the journal may implement the following measures:

  1. Requesting additional information or clarification regarding disclosed conflicts of interest.
  2. Assigning independent reviewers to evaluate manuscripts objectively.
  3. Replacing editors or reviewers whose independence may be compromised.
  4. Requiring authors to provide additional conflict of interest declarations.
  5. Implementing other appropriate editorial safeguards to protect research integrity and publication ethics.

Relevant conflict of interest declarations from authors may be included in published articles to promote transparency and enable readers to assess potential competing interests.

If an undisclosed conflict of interest is identified after publication, the editorial team will investigate the circumstances and determine appropriate corrective actions, which may include publishing a correction, issuing an editorial notice, or taking other measures consistent with recognized publication ethics guidelines.

  1. Commitment to Publication Ethics

An-Nafis: Jurnal Ilmiah Keislaman dan Kemasyarakatan is committed to ensuring that scholarly research and editorial decisions remain free from inappropriate financial, personal, professional, institutional, or ideological influences.
